Stop Licking Me, Fish!

In regular fashion, we missed breakfast this morning due to hangover and lack of motivation.  When we finally woke up around noon, Molly was not feeling well and got slightly ill.  We then decided to take an hour or two and go get breakfast/lunch at a place called El Gringo.  I decided on the New Breakfast (2 eggs, ham, barely cooked bacon, baked beans, mushrooms and onions and 2 slices of toast) and Molly opted for the chicken quesadilla.  We finished breakfast and decided to take the scooter all the way south on the island to Shark Island, an unreal snorkeling area.

We arrived in Shark Bay around 2pm and borrowed snokle gear from a local joint.  We had no idea where we were going and walked down about 6 sets of 50 stairs before we finally found a way into the water.  This was, by far, one of the most beautiful bays I'd ever seen.  The water was crystal clear, the surroundings perfectly green and the weather pristine.

We got into the water and were completely isolated.  No one around and nothing but nature in our faces.  We used the underwater camera to take some pictures (attached below) and had an awesome time.  We hopped back on the scooter in order to make it back to Sairee Beach by 5pm, our scheduled start time of our PADI dive course.  On the way back to Sairee Beach, I heard a really cool humming sound coupled with a a little bit of a tail wag and quickly realized that we had a flat rear tire.  Decision time.... do we try to ride the next 3/4 mile and risk serious scooter damage or do we just suck it up and walk the bike all the way home?  We opted for the lattter and ended up walking the bike all the way back to the shop where they charged us 150 baht ($4.50) to replace the tire.  We did, however, get a brand new replacement scooter.

After replacing the scooter we went to New Wave Dive and enrolled in our dive course.  It was very uneventful, just watching 3, 45 minute instructional videos.

Afterwards, we went to dinner at an Italian restaurant and had a pretty good meal.  We then decided to hit Lotus Bar, the bar on the beach with the fire twirlers.  We hung out there all night and met 2 awesome British people, very much unlike the jerks we met at Choppers the night before.  We drank until about 15 minutes ago (so if there are misspellings or grammatical errors, LAY OFF) and had an awesome time.  We'll now see what tomorrow brings when we have to leave this awesome hotel and find new accommodations.  It may be a while before we're able to post again so until then, stay classy.
